Wendy is informally considered the world's most muscle dog. And this was not the result of intensive training in the local Fitness section and not the abuse of steroids. The excess mass of the dog was born thanks to the mutation in the genome responsible for the generation of myostatin.

Miostatin is a squirrel limiting muscle growth. In defection, this restriction is removed and an animal (or man) receives an elevated mass of muscles without compromising any effort. Delicious, huh?

The racers are trying to obtain or find a copy of a defect in the miostatin gene. The races with this mutation are referred to as “bands” (bullies). They're faster and stronger, but the appearance of the outside looks little different from the usual dogs of their species.
